Or, What Is It Like To Be A Thing? was created in response to an immense amount of work that I was reading around New Materialism and animal studies in from around 2009 to 2012 (and beyond). I was interested in what it meant to decenter the human in a game, and so I made a game about that.

Ultimately, this is a game that is about decentering while fully centering the human being, so I guess I failed at what I wanted to do, but I think it's a nicely written science fiction story that I would be happy enough to create even now.
